About the author

Susan Woodward is a writer, mother, teacher, and widow who believes in the beauty of nature and storytelling to heal deep emotional wounds. When Susan Woodward’s husband passed away unexpectedly, her whole world changed. Her book, Coyote on the Bridge, is a personal memoir about grief, love, and the journey toward healing while coping with sudden loss and slowly learning how to live again.

For Susan, hiking became a form of emotional healing—a place to cry, think, and slowly rebuild a life that no longer looked the same. Nature became her escape and her guide. With every hike, every mountain view, Susan began to find her way. She hopes her story brings comfort to others who are coping with sudden loss and reminds them they are not alone.

Susan lives in California, surrounded by trails, trees, and memories. She continues to write and speak about healing after loss—her words invite readers to walk beside her and find peace—even in heartbreak.
